This review presents aspects of pleiotropic actions of vitamin D3, in particular amongst pediatric population. It describes relationship between vitamin D3 and gastrointestinal diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, liver and pancreas pathologies) and central nervous system and cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, we underline the role of vitamin D3 in the epidemiology and pathogenesis of malignancies and autoimmune diseases.
